Bryce Lausier (Glenburn, Maine/Hampden Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's basketball team has been named the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Earning his second player of the week honor of the season, Lausier is the second Husky men's basketball player to earn the honor this season, joining sophomore
Brady Saunders (Brewer, Maine).
Lausier averaged a double-double with 23.5 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 48.5 percent from the field as the Huskies suffered two losses this week. The graduate transfer recorded 18 points and 16 rebounds in a 68-66 loss vs. Bates. Lausier would follow up scoring a career-high 29 points and recording eight rebounds as the Huskies fell to SJC 98-86.
Lausier has five double-doubles through six games this season, and is averaging 22.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. Shooting 12-for-30 from three-point range (40.0 percent), Lausier is connecting on 51.6 percent overall from the field (48-for-93). He has scored at least 20 points in four of the Huskies' six games.
The Huskies are on the road at Eastern Connecticut State on Wednesday, December 4 (7:00 pm) to start their Little East Conference schedule. Southern Maine hosts Salem State in a non-conference game on Saturday, December 7 (1:00 pm) for its next home contest.
