Bryce Lausier Named MMBCWA Player of the Week

GORHAM, Maine  –   Graduate student Bryce Lausier (Glenburn, Maine/Hampden Academy) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's basketball team has been named the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) Player of the Week. Lausier is the second Husky men's basketball player to earn the honor this season, joining sophomore Brady Saunders (Brewer, Maine).
 
Lausier nearly recorded a triple double, helping the Huskies improve to 4-0 with a 103-90 win on the road at UMaine Farmington in Southern Maine's lone contest of the week.  Lausier had 25 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists against the Beavers and shot an outstanding 10-for-15 from the field.
 
With four consecutive double-doubles through for games for Southern Maine, Lausier is averaging 21.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game, and is shooting 53.3 percent (32-for-60) from the field.  Both his totals for points (25) and rebounds (16) against UMaine Farmington are season and career-highs for the 6-5 guard/forward.
 
The Huskies will host Bates College on Tuesday, November 26 (7:30 pm) for its next home contest before hitting the road for their next two games at Saint Joseph's College on Sunday, December 1 (7:30 pm) and at Eastern Connecticut State on Wednesday, December 4 (7:00 pm).
