- Grise doubled the lead when his shot went wide of the net but ricocheted off the end boards behind Penton and found its way into the net 5:28 into the second period
- The Huskies got one back with 5:26 left in the period when sophomore Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario/Beaver Brae Secondary School) found Marini in front of the net who lifted the puck over the pads of Baliotti, who replaced Costley during the period. Graduate student Nick Ritmo (Niskayuna, N.Y.) helped set up the goal by tapping a pass to Ilott before drawing a hit that knocked his helmet off for his second assist of the season.
- Penton stopped 24 shots in the third period but the Mules added an empty-net goal from Korpi to seal the game 3-1 with 30 seconds left.
