Ethan MacDuff (Lloydminster, Alberta) scored the first goal of his collegiate career and had an assist for the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a 4-4 tie with the No. 2 Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Friday night in New England Hockey Conference action. Senior
Curtis Judd (Newton, Mass./Albany Academy) also had a goal and an assist for the Huskies while Nicholas Domitrovic and Tyler Schwindt each had two assists for the Soaring Eagles. Elmira scored twice in the third period to tie the game and force overtime.

The two programs have now played nine times with Elmira leading 4-2-3. The Huskies won the last meeting between the two teams on November 11 in overtime 3-2 to upset the then 10
th ranked Soaring Eagles. The last tie between the two teams was on November 6, 2021 and ended 2-2.

How It Happened:
- Judd put the Huskies up 1-0 10:42 into the first period with MacDuff assisting on the goal.
- Freshman Marcus Torgner (Mjolby, Sweden) doubled the lead with a power-play goal a few minutes later thanks to assists from sophomores Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario/Beaver Brae Secondary School) and Jakub Suran (Liberec, Czech Republic).
- Elmira converted a 5-on-3 opportunity with two Huskies in the penalty box to cut the lead in half 2-1 off a goal by Shawn Kennedy from Ryan Reifler. The hosts then scored again 26 seconds later to tie the game when Janis Vizbelis scored another power-play goal from Bailey Krawczyk and Domitrovic.
- Southern Maine responded with two goals of their own in the final six minutes of the period. First, freshman Matt Sullivan (Hingham, Mass./New Hampton School) put the puck into an open net after a feed from junior Mathieu Sabourin (Alexandria, Ontario) with 5:09 left in the period. The second goal came in the final minute of the period when MacDuff tipped in a pass from Judd. Junior Azam Jiwa (Calgary, Alberta) also had an assist.
- Kerfalla Toure scored for the Soaring Eagles 2:06 into the third to make the score 4-3. Cole Tucker and Schwindt provided the assists on the goal. Tucker then tied the game with 10:30 to go. Domitrovic and Schwindt each recorded their second assists of the night on the play.
- Palmer made four saves in overtime to secure the tie.
