Emma Nassif (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and sophomore
Abby Emerson (Gorham, Maine) extended their doubles winning streak to three matches on Saturday for the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's tennis match against the Bridgewater State University Bears. Emerson also picked up a win at number two singles for the Huskies in a 7-2 loss to the Bears.

Bridgewater State moves to 2-1 on the season with the win and are 1-0 in conference play. Southern Maine is now 0-3 this season and 0-2 in LEC matches.

Nassif and Emerson defeated Madeline Von Ruden and Mackenzie Silveira 8-4 for Southern Maine's only doubles win of the match. The duo of Nassif and Emerson have now won all three of their matches this season. Bridgewater State had wins at second and third doubles. In the second flight Allison Carter and Meghan Lotti won 8-1 over junior
Rebecca Hamel (Windham, Maine) and senior
Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North). Sophomores
Muriel Lattin (Litchfield, Maine) and
Olivia Vance (Winthrop, Maine) were defeated 8-4 at number three doubles.

Emerson bested Silveira 6-1, 6-0 at number two singles for her third consecutive victory. Her win was the only one for Southern Maine in singles play as the Bears took the rest of the matches. Von Ruden won 6-2, 6-0 over Nassif at first singles while Carter beat Hamel 6-2, 6-2 in the third slot. In number four singles Queen won 6-3, 6-2 win over Brock. Lotti blanked Lattin 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and Bettencourt closed out the match by beating Vance 6-1, 6-1 in the latter's collegiate debut.

The Huskies will travel to face Thomas College on Tuesday at 4:00 pm in their first road match of the season.
