Emma Nassif (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and sophomore
Abby Emerson (Gorham, Maine) won at first doubles and each had a singles win for the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's tennis team in a hard-fought 6-3 loss to the Husson University Eagles on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles move to 3-0 with the non-conference win while the Huskies drop to 0-2.

Rebecca Hamel (Windham, Maine) and senior
Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) lost their match in a tie-breaker 7-5 to Husson's Olivia Chandler and Hannah Duley. The Eagles also were victorious at third doubles as Emily Doten and Joey Lynn Ramsdell defeated junior
Chloe McVetty (Windham, Maine) and sophomore
Muriel Lattin (Litchfield, Maine) 8-2.

At number one singles Nassif recorded her first win of the season by beating Doten 6-4, 6-2. Emerson won 6-1, 6-2 over Barber in the number two slot for her second singles win in as many days. The Eagles took third through sixth singles to secure the win. Ramsdell defeated Hamel in 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (10-8) in an extremely close match at number three singles. Fourth singles saw Duley defeat Brock 6-0, 6-4 and at fifth singles Chandler beat McVetty 6-1, 6-0. Lockhart won 8-1 over Lattin at sixth singles in an eight game pro set to end the match.

The Huskies will host Bridgewater State University for a Little East Conference match on Saturday, September 16 at noon.
