GORHAM, Maine – Juniors
Jillian Nichols (Gorham, Maine) and
Cece Racine (Lewiston, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2023 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. The IWLCA honored 963 student-athletes from 173 different institutions on the 2023 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll.
Nichols played in 13 games for the Huskies during the 2023 season with 10 starts. The Nursing major scored eight goals and added four assists for 12 points on the year. She also recorded nine groundballs and caused five turnovers. Nichols recorded multiple-points in two games this past season scoring two goals and assisting on another in wins over Castleton and UMass Dartmouth. In her career she has tallied 43 points from 23 goals and 20 assists.
Racine was a Second Team All-Little East Conference selection last season after winning 10 games and leading the conference with a .516 save percentage. She finished the season with 144 saves, a 9.00 goals against average and earned a spot on both the LEC All-Sportsmanship and LEC All-Academic teams for the second consecutive year. A Biology major, Racine also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors for the 2022-2023 academic year.
