GORHAM, Maine – Freshman 
Landon Weaver (Bowdoinham, Maine/ Mt. Ararat) won his second singles match of the week with a 6-1,6-2 win over Bridgewater State's Charles Malinowski on Saturday afternoon. Weaver's victory was the lone one for the Huskies as the Bears took the Little East Conference match by a score of 8-1 at the Gorham High School tennis courts.
 
Bridgewater State swept the doubles portion of the match. Kendan Ziegler and Charles Fiske defeated junior 
Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) and sophomore 
Zac Howe (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) 8-5 at first doubles. The sophomore duo of 
Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, QC, Canada/École Secondaire L'Odyssée) and 
Azam Jiwa (Calgary, AB, Canada/West Island College) were defeated 8-0 by Sean Nutter and Adam Beatrice at second doubles. Weaver and classmate 
Alex Lancaster (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland Christian) battled hard but ultimately dropped the third doubles match to Charles Malinowski and Ryan Hebert 8-5 (7-5).
 
Ziegler defeated Ouellette 6-1,6-0 at first singles and second singles Desmarais lost 6-0,6-2 to Nutter. Beatrice bested Jiwa 6-2,6-1 at third singles and in the number four slot Fiske won 6-3,6-0 over junior 
Ethan Rudnicki (Levant, Maine/Hermon). Howe tested Barros at fifth singles but was defeated 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in a hard-fought match. Weaver defeated Malinowski 6-2,6-1 in the sixth singles slot for his second win of the week and third on the season.
 
The next match for the Huskies is on Tuesday at 3PM at Salem State University.
