Huskies Defeated by Owls 19-10

GORHAM, Maine – The Keene State Owls defeated the University of Southern Maine men's lacrosse team 19-10 on Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field in Little East Conference action. Rex Maccarini scored six goals and assisted on five more for the Owls in the win.

The Goalies: 
Keene State: Charlie Giuliotti: 5-4, six saves, 10 goals allowed, .375 save percentage
Keene State: Andrew Wiegand, no stats in 1:30 played
USM: Addison Dietz (Waterbury Center, Vt./Harwood Union): 0-5, 14 saves, 17 goals allowed, .452 save percentage
USM: Nathan Plourde (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford Hills): seven saves, two goals allowed, .778 save percentage.
 
How It Happened:
  • The visiting Owls outscored the Huskies 5-2 in the first quarter and added another goal early in the second to go up 6-3.
  • The Huskies got within a goal at 6-5 with 8 minutes left in the half before Andrew Miller and Maccarini each scored twice to close out the half of 4-0 run to put the Owls up 10-5 at the break.
  • Keene State scored seven more times in the third quarter while allowing just two Husky goals to put the game out of reach.
  • Southern Maine outscored Keene State 3-2 in the final quarter thanks to a pair of goals from senior Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) and one from sophomore Aman Zusner (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic).
