GORHAM, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer College men's tennis team defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 8-1 in a non-conference match at the Costello Sports Complex in Gorham on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman 
Landon Weaver (Bowdoinham, Maine/ Mt. Ararat) picked up a win at sixth singles for the Huskies. The match was originally scheduled to be played at Colby-Sawyer before being moved to Southern Maine's indoor facility due to weather concerns.
 
The Chargers swept the three doubles matches led by Zsombor Homonnay and Aidan Jensen defeating junior 
Cole Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) and sophomore 
Zac Howe (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) 8-1 at first doubles. In the second doubles match Peyton Meuse and Kham Savatdy defeated sophomores 
Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, QC, Canada/École Secondaire L'Odyssée) and 
Azam Jiwa (Calgary, AB, Canada/West Island College) 8-0. At third doubles Cohl Schusler and Caiden McManus beat Weaver and freshman 
Alex Lancaster (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland Christian) 8-1.
 
Ouellette, who made his season debut, dropped his first singles match to Homonnay 7-5,6-1. Desmarais was defeated by Jensen 6-1,6-2 at second doubles. Meuse and Savatdy each won 6-0,6-0 at third and fourth singles over Jiwa and junior 
Ethan Rudnicki (Levant, Maine/Hermon). Schusler recorded a 6-2,6-4 win over Howe at fifth singles. Weaver scored a 6-3,6-4 victory over McManus for his second win of the season to prevent a full sweep.
 
The Huskies will continue LEC play on Saturday at noon at Gorham High School against Bridgewater State.
