Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) scored six goals and had two assists to help guide the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 15-12 road win over the Castleton University Spartans on Saturday. The win is the second consecutive conference victory for the Huskies and helps keep their playoff hopes as they improve to 2-4 in Little East Conference action and 4-10 overall. Freshman goalie
Addison Dietz (Waterbury Center, Vt./Harwood Union) made 13 saves in net for the Huskies to help secure the win.

How It Happened:
- The Huskies came out the gates firing with seven first-quarter goals to take a 7-1 lead after one. Senior Omar Contreras (Portland, Maine/Deering) and sophomore Andrew James (Portland, Maine/Deering) each scored twice and Contreras also logged an assist.
- Wetmore, senior Jacob Lang (West Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills) and freshman Nolan Brennan (Windham, Maine) also scored in the first quarter.
- Each side scored three times in the second quarter with Wetmore netting all three Husky goals.
- The Spartans scored five goals in the third and cut the lead to 12-9 entering the frame quarter. However, their comeback attempt stalled out as each team found the back of the net three times in the fourth to make the final score 15-12.
Inside The Stats:
- Wetmore's six goals and eight points are a season-high and led all players.
- Chris LaBonte led Castleton with five goals and his five points tied Contreras for the second-most in the game.
- Cam Frankenhoff had three goals for Castleton.
- Andrew James had four points from three goals and an assist and Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) had two assists.
- Senior Cruise Lizotte-Johnson (Sanford, Maine) scored his first goal of the season in the fourth quarter.
- The Huskies went 20-for-30 on face-offs led by the junior Cayden Poisson-Bragdon (Lewison, Maine). Poisson-Bragdon won 16-of-26 face-offs while Lizotte-Johnson went 3-for-3 and freshman Jacob Sharp (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) won the only face-off he took.
- Poisson-Bragdon and Lizotte-Johnson paced the Huskies in ground balls at 10 and six.
- Casey Meczywor and Christopher Dindino each had six ground balls for the Spartans.
Up Next: The Huskies will play their final home game of the regular season on Tuesday at 4PM against Plymouth State.
