Nick James achieved three major milestones on Wednesday in University of Southern Maine's 22-5 Senior Day win over Salem State. James broke the program records for career goals, single-season assists and single-season points while also becoming the first player in team history to reach 200 career points. James was one of eight seniors honored along with
Jacob Lang (West Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills),
Xpistos Sourgiadakis (Littleton, N.H./St. Johnsbury Academy),
Cruise Lizotte-Johnson (Sanford, Maine),
Omar Contreras (Portland, Maine/Deering),
Dylan Whitney (Wells, Maine),
Nolan Winston (Berwick, Maine/ North Berwick) and
Derek Malinowski (West Gardiner, Maine/ Gardiner Area).

How It Happened:
- James scored two of Southern Maine's four first-quarter goals and the Huskies led 4-1 after the first 15 minutes of play. His second goal broke the program record of 110 set by Tristan Dundas '21.
- The Vikings cut the lead to a goal with two scores in the first three minutes of the second quarter.
- Southern Maine responded with 11 consecutive goals including four to end the half to take an 8-3 lead at the half.
- The Huskies scored seven more times in the third quarter while allowing just one Salem State goal. James and Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) each scored three goals in the quarter. Freshman Nolan Brennan (Windham, Maine) also scored for the Huskies.
- Three Huskies scored their first goal of the season during a 7-1 fourth quarter. Freshman James Kastrinakis (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic) scored the first three goals of his career and classmate Jacob Sharp (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) also scored for the first time in his career. Winston also scored for the first time this season.

Inside The Stats:
- James recorded 11 points and seven goals are both tied for the third-most in a game in program history. His performance allowed him to break Keegan Smith's record of 31 assists in a season and surpass his own program record of 67 points. He also set a program record for most shots in a game with 21.
- Three of James' seven goals came with a man-up and his 1- man-up goals this season tie the program record held by Tim Bryant (2009) and Dylan Bousquet-Smith (2011).
- Wetmore reached the 100-career points milestone with six points from four goals and two helpers. He is the 11th player in program history to record 100 points.
- James wasn't the only senior to have a good game on Senior Day. Contreras scored three times and had two assists, Lizotte-Johnson had two assists, Winston had a goal and an assist, Lang scored a goal and Malinowski had an assist.
- The senior contributions were not limited to just offense as Sourgiadakis went 8-for-10 on face-offs, Whitney caused four turnovers and had six ground balls.
- Whitney and freshman Herbert Bryant (Portland, Maine) combined for nine caused turnovers and led a defense that caused 13 turnovers.
- Kastrinakis contributed three goals and an assist.
- Sophomore Andrew James (Portland, Maine/Deering) also scored a goal.
- Junior Cayden Poisson-Bragdon (Lewison, Maine) won 15 of the 20 face-offs he took and had six ground balls.
- Lake Fleming had two goals and two assists and Dakota Girard scored three times for Salem State.
