GORHAM, Maine. – Senior
Lauren Miller (St. George, Maine/Camden Regional) and junior
Makena Mulcahy (Auburn, Mass.) each went 4-for-5 at the plate over two games to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a doubleheader sweep of the UMaine Farmington Beavers 2-0, 9-0 (5 inn) in non-conference softball action Thursday afternoon at the USM Softball Stadium.

Today's doubleheader marked the 30
th and 31
st contests between the University of Southern Maine and the UMaine Farmington Beavers. Southern Maine is 23-8 all-time against UMF, and has won the last 12 consecutively dating back to 1999.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. UMF Game 1:
- Junior Lauren Merrill (Bethel, Maine/Oxford Hills) struck out nine and held UMaine Farmington to just three hits to earn the shutout win in the circle.
- Miller and Mulcahy each went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead a 10-hit Husky attack.
- Southern Maine's Migliorini drove in the first run of the game with a single in the third. One of two hits for the Husky freshman in the game, Migliorini delivered with two outs to put USM up 1-0.
- USM made it 2-0 in the fourth as freshman Olivia Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) led off the inning with a single, and moved to second on a ground out. Mulcahy singled up the middle to drive in Levasseur.
- With Merrill controlling the plate for the Huskies, the two runs stood for the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. UFM Game 2:
- The Huskies batted around their line up to open game two and scored six runs in the first to cruise to a 9-1 (5 inning) win. The Huskies had 12 hits in game two, and were led by two hits each from Snyder and Levasseur.
- USM collected six of its 12 hits in the first inning, including an RBI triple to the gap in left from Snyder to drive in Miller for the first run of the game. Miller led off the game and the inning with her fourth hit of the series. Sheilds had a two-run single, while freshman Lexus McIntosh (Lancaster, N.H./White Mountains Regional) had an RBI single down the left field line.
- USM made it 8-0 with two more runs in the third. Snyder delivered with an RBI single, while Migliorini had a one of her two doubles in the series for another RBI.
- Maddie Pike hit a solo home run over the left field fence to make it 8-1 for the Beavers, connecting on one of just two hits in the game for UMF.
- USM regained its eight-run advantage in the bottom of the fourth with some standout pinch hitting. Mulcahy doubled to left to start the inning, and then advanced to third on a pinch-hit single to left field from junior Allie Mailhiot (Goffstown, N.H.). With runners on first and third, sophomore Sara Shea (Ellsworth, Maine) connected with an RBI sacrifice fly to right to give USM a 9-1 lead.
- Up by eight, freshman Alana DeLisle (Amesbury, Mass.) fired the final inning for the Huskies getting the first two UMF batters on strikes, before getting a ground out to end the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- .Eleven different batters had at least one hit for the Huskies in the doubleheader sweep.
- With two doubles (one in each game), Migliorini has eight this season. She is hitting .327 (16-for-49), making half of her hits doubles.
