BIDDEFORD, Maine – Four goals from sophomore
Tucker Nussinow (Winthrop, Maine/Kent Hills School) and five assists by senior
Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) were not enough for the University of Southern Maine men's lacrosse team to overcome the University of New England Nor'easters as the Huskies fell by a score of 13-8 in non-conference play on Wednesday evening.

The Records: UNE: 2-3; Southern Maine: 0-3
The Goalies:
UNE: Alex Thoms: 1-0, 15 saves, eight goals allowed, .652 save percentage.
USM: Addison Dietz (Waterbury Center, Vt./Harwood Union): 0-3, 10 saves, 13 goals allowed, .435 save percentage.
How It Happened:
- The first five goals of the games were all scored by UNE with Andrew Lawrence netting two and assisting on another.
- Senior Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) and Nussinow each scored goals at the end of the first quarter to close the gap heading into the second quarter.
- Each team scored twice in the second and the half ended with the Nor'easters leading 7-4.
- The third quarter saw each side score three times with the last two for Southern Maine coming from Nussinow with James assisting.
- Nussinow added another goal early in the fourth to get the Huskies within two goals but UNE closed out the game with three more goals to make the final score 13-8.
Inside The Stats:
- Jordan White led all players with seven points off three goals and four assists.
- Nussinow and Colin Watt each scored four goals while White and Wetmore each scored three times.
- Senior Omar Contreras (Portland, Maine/Deering) and sophomore Andrew James (Portland, Maine/Deering) also recorded points for Southern Maine with Contreras scoring a goal and James assisting on another.
- Other Nor'easters with multiple points include Shea Fogarty with three assists, Ryan Hazard with two goals and two assists and Gavin Tanis notching a goal and an assist.
- The teams each had 23 shots on goal but the Nor'easters dominated the ground balls 41-29 and won 20-of-24 faceoffs. Senior Cruise Lizotte-Johnson (Sanford, Maine) led the Huskies with nine ground balls and Ben Gowell collected 13 ground balls.
- UNE scored on four of their six extra-man opportunities and the Huskies converted two of their six thanks to the connection of Nick James to Nussinow.
