Buzzards Bay, Mass. – The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies by a score of 20-11 on Friday night in the first Little East Conference men's lacrosse game of the season for each team. The Buccaneers were led by Mitchell Maida with four goals and five assists, Gage Coolahan with two goals and six assists and Daniel Kane with five goals and an assist.

How It Happened:
- Mass. Maritime scored the first five goals of the game before junior Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) scored the first Southern Maine goal with a man up thanks to an assist from sophomore Aman Zusner (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic). In total the Buccaneers scored the Huskies 7-1 in the first quarter.
- Each side scored four goals in the second quarter. Wetmore, freshman Nolan Brennan (Windham, Maine), Zusner and senior Omar Contreras (Portland, Maine/Deering) each scored for the Huskies.
- Brennan's goal was the first of his career.
- The Buccaneers continued their dominance in the second half and outscored the Huskies 9-6 over the final two quarters.
- Contreras scored three goals in the second half while sophomore Tucker Nussinow (Winthrop, Maine/Kent Hills School) scored twice. Senior Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) also scored for the Huskies.

- Ryan Cameron, Braeden Kosiewicz and Ryan McDonough each scored two goals and had an assist.
- Contreras scored four goals and had an assist and James logged four points on a goal and three assists.

- Zusner had two assists and a goal.
- Sophomore Luke Gagner (Portsmouth, N.H./ Traip Academy) led the Huskies with six ground balls followed by junior Cayden Poisson-Bragdon (Lewison, Maine) with five.
- The Buccaneers won 22 of 35 faceoffs led by Jack Schrier who went 16-of-29 and James Cassidy who went a perfect 5-of-5.
- Southern Maine committed 27 turnovers with 15 of them being forced.
