Nick James (Portland, Maine/Deering) entered Wednesday's contest again Norwich a point away from tying Nate DelGiudice's program record of 155 and proceeded to break the record in the first quarter on his way to a 10-point performance to power the Huskies to a 12-9 non-conference win. The win for the Huskies is their first of the season.

The Goalies:
USM: Tanner Nussinow (Portland, Maine/Casco Bay): 1-0, 14 saves, nine goals allowed, .609 save percentage.
Norwich: Eric Hrabal: 0-1, 12 saves, 12 goals allowed, .500 save percentage.
How It Happened:
- Senior Schuyler Wetmore (Cumberland Center, Maine/Greely) scored with a man-up for his tenth goal of the season with James recording the assist to tie the program record of career points and assisted on an Omar Contreras (Portland, Maine/Deering) goal later in the quarter to break the program record.
- Norwich cut the lead to 2-1 with a Coley Bagwell goal with 3:12 left in the quarter.
- James scored twice in the first two minutes of the second quarter thanks to passes from Wetmore each time. The Cadets responded with four unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead at the half.
- Noriwch added another goal early in the third before Wetmore scored another man-up goal to make the score 6-5 but Alex Johnston made the Norwich lead two goals with a goal shortly after.
- The Huskies finished the quarter on a 5-0 run thanks to three Nick James goals, an Andrew James (Portland, Maine/Deering) goal and a goal by Wetmore. Three of the goals came while the Huskies held a man advantage.
- Both sides scored twice in the fourth quarter as Norwich threatened but the Cadets could not rally a comeback.
Inside The Stats:
- James scored six times and assisted on four other goals.
- Wetmore recorded seven points from three goals and four assists.
- Andrew James and sophomore Aman Zusner (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic) each had two assists. Zusner and senior Cruise Lizotte-Johnson (Sanford, Maine) each recorded four ground balls for the Huskies.
- Matt Meehan led Norwich with three points thanks to a goal and two assists.
- Nussinow made 14 saves to earn his first career win.
- The Huskies scored seven times while a man-up which proved to be the difference as Norwich committed 12 penalties.
