GORHAM, Maine – Freshman
Matt Sullivan (Hingham, Mass./New Hampton School) recorded his second-consecutive two-goal game for the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a 6-2 win over the Suffolk University Rams in a non-conference men's ice hockey contest. The Huskies hosted a Teddy Bear Toss at the game in partnership with the Student Government Association Student Body President's Office and Husky fans showered the ice with teddy bears after freshman
Marcus Torgner (Mjolby, Sweden) netted the first Southern Maine goal 7:13 into the first period. The goal was also the first of Torgner's collegiate career.

Suffolk: 2-10-1
Southern Maine: 5-5-1
Series History:
The Huskies lead the all-time series 11-7-1. Today's contest was the first meeting between the teams since a 4-0 USM win on February 1, 2020. The Huskies have now won each of the last eight contests against Suffolk.

Suffolk: Chris Jackson (1-6-0), 60:00, six goals allowed, 26 saves
Southern Maine:

How It Happened:
- Torgner's goal was assisted by Sullivan and sophomore Jakub Suran (Liberec, Czech Republic).
- Sullivan scored the first of his two goals 13:49 into the first on the power-play with seniors Nolan McElhaney (Natick, Mass./Long Island University) and Austin Marini (Hyde Park, Mass./Catholic Memorial) assisting.
- Junior Azam Jiwa (Calgary, Alberta) made the lead 3-0 in the opening minutes of the second with his third goal of the season before Suffolk's Cole Scott spoiled Penton's shutout bid with a goal shortly after. McElhaney and sophomore Elliot Van Orsdel (Eveleth, Minn./ Eveleth-Gilbert) had assists on Jiwa's goal.
- Pollara extended the lead to 4-1 in the third period when he scored off a pass from Torgner early in the third period. Junior Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, Quebec) also assisted on the goal.
- The Rams cut the lead to 4-2 with a goal by Scott McManus but the Huskies scored again just 15 seconds later when a long pass from sophomore Kadin Ilott (Kenora, Ontario/Beaver Brae Secondary School) bounced off the boards and was skated onto by Sullivan right in front the Rams' net. Sullivan then beat Jackson for his second goal of the game.
- Sophomore Conor Donovan (Nahant, Mass./Swampscott) made the final score 6-2 with his second goal of the season with Cole Brennan (Sussex, N.J./ Pomfret School) recording the first assist of his career on the play. Brennan blocked a Suffolk shot and then, while still down on the ice, poked the puck towards Donovan who hustled down the ice and fired off his second goal of the year.
