How It Happened:
- The Huskies put seven shots on goal over the first half of the first period but couldn't sneak one past Curtin. He finished the first period with eight saves while Penton stopped seven shots.
- Elmira scored the first goal of the game 1:22 into the second period when Chance Gorman scored on the power-play. The lead was short-lived as an interference penalty quickly put Southern Maine a power-play of their own. Senior Austin Marini (Hyde Park, Mass./Catholic Memorial) scored on a rebound 58 seconds into the man advantage to tie the game. Ouellette and freshman Matt Sullivan (Hingham, Mass./New Hampton School) had assists on the goal.
- The lead went back to Elmira when Nicholas Domitrovic scored late in the second period.
- An Elmira penalty gave the Huskies a power-play in the closing minutes of the third and with Penton pulled in favor of an extra skater Sullivan scored his second goal of the season off a feed from Ouellette to tie the game with 1:24 left in regulation.
- Another costly penalty on Elmira gave the Huskies another power-play chance in the final 30 seconds. The penalty carried over to the five-minute overtime period to give the Huskies a 4-on-3 advantage. Sullivan nearly ended the game 15 seconds into the frame but his backhanded shot hit off the post. Another shot by Sullivan was blocked and sent all the way back to Penton in front of the net who slid a long pass to Marini. Marini then fed it to McElhaney who in turn passed to Ouellette and wound up for a shot. McElhaney then blasted a one-timer past Curtin to give the Huskies the win.
