How It Happened/Inside the Boxscore:
- Tanner Daniels had a highlight-reel goal 4:16 into the first period to give the Statesmen a 1-0 lead.
- Penton made 15 saves in the first period to keep the game close at 1-0 after one frame.
- The Statesmen added two more goals in the first five minutes of the second period to put the game out of reach.
- Penton added 12 saves in the second and 15 in a scoreless third period.
- Daniels assisted on a Brenden Howella in the second period while the third Hobart goal was scored by Matthew Iasenza  from Jared Patterson.
- Freshman Dylan Hullaby (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) led the Huskies with four shots.
- Freshman defenseman Jakub Suran (Liberec, Czech Republic) blocked three shots in the contest.
