HAMPDEN, ME – The University of Southern Maine women's tennis team opened the 2022 season with a pair of matches against Husson University. The matches were played at the Armstrong Tennis Center and the Eagles won each both matches by a score of 9-0.
Husson swept first and second doubles in the first match 8-0 and won by forfeit at third doubles. The Eagles came away with each match in singles play as well. Sophomore Chole McVetty (Windham, Maine) had a solid showing at third singles despite dropping the match 6-2, 6-4 to Husson's Lexi Tompson.

Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and freshman Muriel Latten (Litchfield, Maine) were defeated 8-1 at first doubles and McVetty and junior
Jordan Cote (Hope, Maine/Camden Hills) lost 8-2 at second doubles. The Eagles again came out victorious in each of the singles matches while McVetty again gave a strong effort at singles losing 6-2,6-1to Joey Lynn Ramsdell.
Next up the Huskies will host the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth on Saturday (12:00 pm).
