GORHAM, Maine – In their first taste of Little East Conference action of the season the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's tennis team was defeated by UMass Dartmouth 9-0 in a match that doubled as the team's home opener at Gorham High School.
 
The Husky first doubles team of Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and Muriel Lattin (Litchfield, Maine) was defeated by the duo of Corsair dup of IsaBella Winter and Ailey Riddick by a score of 8-1. UMass Dartmouth also took second doubles 8-0 and won third doubles by forfeit.
 
The Corsairs swept the singles matches as well. Southern Maine's Chloe McVetty (Windham, Maine) had another good showing at third singles despite dropping her match 6-2, 6-4.
 
The Huskies will next compete on Saturday, September 17 when they travel south to Danbury, Conn. to take on LEC foe Western Connecticut State University. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
