WINTER HAVEN, Fla.  – Brett Benedetti and Jacob Barker each went 3-for-4 at the plate and the Augustana (Ill.) College Vikings pounded out 14 hits to roll to a 15-2 (7 inning) win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies at Chain O'Lakes Stadium Sunday morning at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Up 1-0 after two innings, Augustana (Ill.) scored four runs in the top of the third led by a two-run single from Beneditti, and tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth to snag a commanding 8-0 lead. Alex Simon had a two-run home run in the fourth to highlight the Viking offense.
• Augustana led 9-0 after five innings, and ballooned its lead to 13-0 with four more runs in the sixth, including an RBI single from Barker. Augustan added another two runs in the bottom of the seven to lead 15-0. Michael Gattuso and Giacomo Fanizza each had singles in the inning
• USM snagged two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore Cameron Slicer (Waterford, Maine/Oxford Hills) had an RBI single, while sophomore Billy Barnard (Portland, Maine) had an RBI fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 15-2. It was as many runs as USM could manage and the game was called in the seventh.
