Southern Maine Falls to Babson on the Road

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Mike Egan (Billerica, Mass./Northeast Generals) scored twice to lift the Babson College Beavers over the Southern Maine Huskies 4-1 in a New England Hockey Conference contest on Friday in Wellesley.

When and Where: Friday, February 11, 2022 – Babson University – Babson Skating Center

Score: Babson 4, Southern Maine 1

History: This was the 43rd meeting between the two programs. The Beavers now lead the series 33-9-1.

The Records: Southern Maine: 7-12-1, 5-9-1 NEHC; Babson: 15-5-2, 10-5-2

The Goaltenders: Anthony D'Aloisio (Frisco, Texas./Texas Jr. Brahmas): 33 saves, .892 save percentage; Aidan Murphy (Walpole, Mass./South Shore Kings) 27 saves, .964 save percentage.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score: 
-After a scoreless first period, Egan scored just 24 seconds into the second period to give Babson a 1-0 lead.

-Egan's goal was followed by a goal from Ryan Black (Pomfret, Conn./Winchendon School) who found the back of the net in the fifth minute of play. 

-Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira (St. Bruno, QC/College Antoine-Girouard) pulled the Huskies back within one when he scored his second goal of the season.

-Babson secured the win, scoring twice in the last seven minutes of the third period and putting the game away 4-1. Thomas Kramer (Bridgewater, Mass./Boston College HS / Bonnyville Pontiacs) and Egan scored the last two goals of the game.

-Babson narrowly edged the Huskies on faceoff wins 34-33 and in shots on goal 37-28.

Up Next: The Huskies will host Babson on Saturday, February 12, at 4pm for an NEHC contest in Gorham.
