How It Happened/Inside the Boxscore:
- Nolan McElhaney (Natick, Mass./Long Island University) scored the first goal of his Southern Maine career in the first period to put the Huskies up 1-0. Mathieu Sabourin (Alexandria, ON, Canada) and Curtis Judd (Newton, Mass./Albany Academy)Â assisted on the goal.
- Each side scored twice in the second period with Southern Maine's goals coming from a pair of rookies in Jakub Suran (Liberec, Czech Republic) and Raphael Lajeunesse (Mont-Laurier, QC, Canada). Suran had two points in the period as he assisted on Lajeunesse's goal. Suran's goal was assisted by Nick Nault (Goffstown, NH) and Christopher Morrison (Ridgefield, Conn./Nichols School).
- Andrew Andary tied the game at 3-3 twenty second into the third period for the Hawks.
- Sabourin reclaimed the lead for the Huskies with a powerplay goal just over five minutes into the period. The Hawks then tied the game again with a goal by Liam Lyons before Tyler Mitchell (Burlington, ON, Canada Pomfret School) put USM ahead 5-4 just over 30 seconds later.
- The Hawks tied the game 14:15 into the third period to force overtime and in the extra period Tommy Schwartz found the back of the net to give Saint Anselm a 6-5 victory.
- McElhaney, Suran and Sabourin each tallied two points off a goal and an assist.
- Judd (Newton, Mass./Albany Academy) recorded two assists while Azam Jiwa (Calgary, AB, Canada/West Island College) and Tyler Gardiner had one.
