GORHAM, Maine -- The Bridgewater State Women's Tennis team swept the doubles points and won five of six singles points on their way to a 8-1 win over Southern Maine on Saturday in Gorham. With the win, Bridgewater moves to 3-2 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 0-5.
Senior captain Emma Nassif (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and sophomore
Kenadi Sawyer (Windham, Maine/Windham) played at first doubles for the Huskies and dropped their match 8-0 to Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) and Madeline Von Ruden (Ashley Falls, Mass.). Sophomores
Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and
Lily Madden (Kenneburnk, Maine/Kennebunk) at second doubles, and freshmen
Breanna Miclette (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) and
Tagan Vance (Kenneburnk, Maine/Kennebunk) at third doubles, also dropped their matches 8-0 to Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.) and Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.), and Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) and Brianna Venditti (North Smithfield, R.I.).
Nassif saw success at first singles, earning her third consecutive victory with a 6-3, 3-6 (10-8) win over Sweeney. The win puts Nassif 4-1 at first singles this season. Madden, Brock, Miclette, Richdale, and Vance played at second through sixth singles for Southern Maine and each dropped their matches 6-0, 6-0.Â
The Huskies are back in action Tuesday, September 28 as they travel to Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference match scheduled for 3:30pm.Â
