Box Score SOMERSET, Mass – The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Corsairs swept the singles and doubles points on their way to a 9-0 win over Southern Maine on Saturday in Somerset. With the win, the Corsairs move to 1-0 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 0-1. 

Senior captain Emma Nassif (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) challenged the Corsairs' Yasemin Kurtis (Frankfurt, Germany) at first singles, dropping the first set 3-6 before winning the second set 6-1 to force a tiebreak. Kurtis won the tiebreaker 10-3 to win the point for the Corsairs. The Corsairs dominated at second through sixth singles, sweeping each match 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles competition, Nassif and sophomore Kenadi Sawyer (Windham, Maine/Windham) teamed up at first doubles against UMass-Dartmouth's Kurtis and Jackie Bokis (Spencer, Mass.). Nassif and Sawyer managed one point off of Kurtis and Bokis, but dropped their match 8-1. At third doubles Sophomore Jordan Cote (Hope, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) and freshman Tagan Vance (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) were able to get a point against the Corsairs' McKenzie Ferrari (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Jordan Beals (Webster, Mass.), before also dropping their match 8-1. Sophomores Lily Madden (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) and Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) were shut out 8-0 in their match at second doubles against Alanna O'Connell (Assonet, Mass.) and Ailey Riddick (Abington, Mass.). 

The Huskies are back in action Sunday, September 12 as they host Husson University in a non-conference match at noon in their home opener.
