GORHAM, Maine – Castleton University picked up a win at third singles and won five other matches by forfeit as they took down Southern Maine 6-3 on Saturday in Gorham. With the win, the Spartans improve to 2-4 on the season, while the Huskies drop to 0-5.

Continuing her dominance at first singles for the Huskies, junior Ciara Richards (Caribou, Maine/Caribou) beat Regina Marchese 4-6, 6-3, (10-3). After dropping the first set, Richards rallied to take the second set and then won the ten point tiebreaker in a decisive manner. 

Sophomore Riley Curtis(Brewer, Maine/Brewer)  also had a nice showing for the Huskies winning her match at second singles 6-1, 6-3 over Karoline Rettenbacher. Kayon Morgan picked up a win for the Spartans at third singles, knocking off sophomore Audrey Richdale (Belfast, Maine/Belfast Area) 6-1, 6-0.

At first doubles, Richards and Curtis teamed up to take down Castleton's Mia Manheimer and Camille Jackson 8-2. Castleton won by forfeit at second and third doubles.
