Husky Fans Are Not Permitted to Attend Contests Per COVID-19 Precautions
                 GORHAM, Maine  –  It's been a while, but the University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics is excited to announce that its first intercollegiate competitions of the 2020-2021 academic year are slated to begin this weekend. Athletic contests remain closed to fans, and strict COVID-19 protocols and precautions will be enforced for each event throughout the season.Â
           Beginning Saturday, February 13 at 12 pm, the Huskies will host the first of three competitions that day. Huskies' wrestling will have the distinction of the first intercollegiate event at the University of Southern Maine since March 2020. USM will face off against Rhode Island College in Hill Gymnasium. Huskies' men's and women's indoor track & field will host a meet with the Husson University Eagles at 3 pm at the Costello Sports Field House, and the men's ice hockey team will compete against Franking Pierce University at 4 pm in the USM Ice Arena. All three of the contests will have a internet broadcast available for Huskies fans to follow along in the action. Links for the internet broadcasts can be found at southernmainehuskies.com
           Action continues on the Gorham campus on Sunday as the women's ice hockey team will skate against Becker College at 5:00 pm. Southern Maine's basketball teams will tip off their shortened seasons next week. Women's basketball hosts Rhode Island College on Wednesday, February 17 (6:00 pm), while Huskies' men's basketball starts its season on the road at the University of New England on Saturday, February 20 (12:00 pm).Â
