GORHAM, Maine – Following an outstanding freshman campaign, University of Southern Maine Field Hockey forward Sage Drinkwater (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) was named to the 2021 Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team.

Drinkwater had a stellar rookie campaign for USM, leading the Huskies with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points. She had three game-winning goals during the 2021 season, and scored four of her 11 goals against Little East Conference competition. The Huskies' leading scorer opened her collegiate career with a bang, scoring four goals in a dramatic 6-5 win over Thomas College.  Drinkwater twice earned LEC Rookie of the Week honors for the Huskies. She finished her first season in the LEC tied for seventh in goals scored, and seventh in points.

At the end of the Huskies 13-win season and 9-3 conference record, Drinkwater was named the LEC Rookie of the Year, earning first team all-conference honors. Drinkwater also picked up recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA), earning All-Region second team status.

Drinkwater's efforts led the Huskies to the semifinals of the LEC tournament, where they fell to regular season conference champion Keene State.
