GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine men's indoor track and field team freshman Ethan Shain (Sanford, Maine/Sanford) picked up Rookie Track Athlete of the Week when the Little East Conference announced its awards for the week ending December 12. 

At the USM Open I, his inaugural meet as a Husky, Shain placed second in the 55m dash with a time of 6.58 seconds. This mark puts Shain at fourth in the Huskies' all-time record books and fourth in Division III this season. Shain's time of 6.69 seconds in the prelims currently ranks tenth in Division III.

The Huskies are back in action after the new year as they are set to host the USM Open II on January 8.
