Huskies Grab 3-2 Conference Win over Skidmore

GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies picked up their first win of the season on Friday night in a 3-2 conference win over the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds. The Huskies were paced by goals from Brendan Dowler (New Preston, Conn./Shepaug Valley), Matt Fuller (Mirror Lake, N.H./Brewster Academy), and Austin Marini (Hyde Park, Mass./Cathlolic Memorial), and solid play from Anthony D'Aloisio (Frisco, Texas/Texas Jr. Brahmas) in the cage.

History: This was the 40th meeting between the two programs. Southern Maine leads the series 30-15-5

The Goaltenders: D'Aloisio: 34 saves, .944 save percentage; Tate Brandon 22 saves, .880 save percentage.

1st star: Austin Marini- one goal, one assist
2nd star: Kaeden Patrick- two goals
3rd star: Matt Fuller- one goal, game winning goal
 
How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
- The Thoroughbreds jumped out to an early lead when Kaeden Patrick found the back of the cage at 16:24, scoring his third goal of the season.
- Two minutes into the second period, Dowler also tallied his third goal of the season, evening the score at 1-1.
- Back to back goals from Fuller and Marini gave the Huskies a 3-1 lead. 
- Skidmore answered back as Patrick netted his second of the night, but a scoreless third period allowed the Huskies to escape with the win.
- Senior Adam Withers (Kenora, ON, Canada/Beaver Brae) had a big night in the stats column with two assists and 11 faceoff wins.
 
Up Next: The Huskies are slated to Castleton University in a conference tilt on November 20 at 4pm.
