GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies picked up their second win of the weekend on Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 conference win over the Castleton University Spartans. The Huskies effort was led by two goals from sophomore Austin Marini (Hyde Park, Mass./Catholic Memorial) and strong play from Mason Palmer (Cumming, Ga./Georgia Connections Academy) in his first career start in goal.

The Goaltenders: Palmer: 35 saves, .946 save percentage; Tate Brandon 40 saves, .930 save percentage.
In his first start, Palmer was strong in goal for the Huskies with 35 saves, a .946 save percentage, and an assist on the way to his first career win.

How It Happened/Inside the Box Score:
- Just six minutes into the first period, the Huskies jumped in front of the Spartans on a goal from Marini, his second of the weekend.
- Castleton evened things out at the end of the first period when Andrew Stefura found the back of the cage.
- In the second period, Marini netted his second goal of the game and third of the weekend to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead going into the third period.
- Tanner McClure (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) gave the Huskies a bit of insurance with a goal just 22 seconds into the third period, but the Spartans answered back with a power play goal to bring the Huskies' lead back to one with five minutes to play.
- Freshman Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, Quebec/École Secondaire de L'Odyssee) took advantage of an empty net with 30 seconds to play and put the game away for the Huskies with his second goal of the season.
Up Next: The Huskies are slated to host Salem State University in a non-conference tilt on November 23 at 7pm.
