Undefeated Anchormen Drop Huskies 9-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island College Women's Tennis team swept the doubles points and singles points on their way to a 9-0 win over Southern Maine on Saturday in Providence. With the win, Rhode Island College moves to 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Little East Conference, while the Huskies fall to 0-7 and 0-5 in the Little East Conference.

The Anchormen dominated in doubles play, taking both matches at first and third doubles 8-0. At first singles, senior captain Emma Nassif (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) and sophomore Kenadi Sawyer (Windham, Maine/Windham) fell to Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) and Victoria Vittori (New Bedford, Mass.), while at third doubles junior Rachel Grome (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) and sophomore Jordan Cote (Hope, Maine/Camden Hills Regional) fell to Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) and Jaimi Vaillancourt (Tiverton, R.I.). Sophomore Maggie Brock (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and freshman Breanna Miclette (Thomaston, Conn./Thomaston) managed a point off of Rhode Island College's Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) and Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) at second doubles, before falling 8-1. 

In singles play, only Miclette managed to snag a point, before dropping her match at fourth singles 6-0, 6-1 to Clara Siegmund (Pomfret, Conn.). Nassif, Sawyer, Brock, Grome, and Cote all dropped their matches 6-0, 6-0 to Lisi, Vittori, Macera, Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.), and Sarah Gonick (Kingston, Mass.), respectively.

The Huskies are back in action Wednesday, October 6 as they host Salem State University in a conference match scheduled for 3pm.
