GORHAM, Maine -- Welcoming back fans and alumni this academic year, the University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics is hosting a Welcome Back Barbeque as part of the University's 2021 Homecoming & Family Weekend on Saturday, October 16 from 11 am - 2 pm. Staged outside of the Costello Sports Complex, meal plans, Husky Bucks, and cash will all be accepted at the barbeque. After grabbing food from the barbeque, fans can make their way to any of four Huskies' home competitions and one alumnae event scheduled for Saturday. 

First up,  Huskies' volleyball! The Huskies kick things off with a tri-match featuring Rhode Island College and Husson University at Hill Gymnasium. USM opens against RIC at 12 pm in its first contest and then will take on Husson at 4 pm. The Huskies will take the court again in game three of the tri-match at 4 pm against Husson. Down at Hannaford Field, the Huskies' women's soccer team will also play host to Rhode Island College. Off to a strong start to its season, the women's soccer team is 11-6-2 all-time against the Anchormen and will be looking for its second straight win over RIC and key points in conference play. Following the women's soccer game, the women's lacrosse team is hosting its alumnae game at 4 pm on Hannaford Field. Alumnae interested in playing should fill out this form. 

Huskies' men's ice hockey is also in action on Saturday, hosting its traditional Blue vs White scrimmage. The puck drops on the action  at 6 pm in the USM Ice Arena, and alumni are encouraged to attend the Athletics Alumni Reception held in the Alumni Reception Room from 4-7 pm.
