Box Score Saint Joseph's Holds Off Southern Maine 13-8
PORTLAND, Maine -- Senior Kat Gadbois (Scarborough, Maine) snapped an 8-8 tie with less than 20 minutes to play and the Saint Joseph's College Monks went on to defeat the University of Southern Maine Huskies 13-8 in a non-conference women's lacrosse match Wednesday evening at Memorial Field.
The victory was the third straight for the Monks (3-1) following their season-opening loss to the University of New England. The Huskies (1-1) fell to .500 with their first loss after beating Husson University in their season opener.

Just over two minutes later, Gadbois took a feed from junior Kelsey Dumond (Lewiston, Maine) and beat USM senior goalie Caley Presby (Portland, Maine/Deering) to give the Monks a 10-8 advantage.
Twenty-seven seconds after Gadbois' goal, senior Elizabeth Elcock (Westwood, Mass./New Hampton) converted an assist from Dumond to make it 11-8. Dumond got into the scoring just over three minutes later to give the Monks their biggest lead (12-8) of the game.

Senior Sarah Pelligrinelli (Southington, Conn.), junior Lauren Lessard (Lewiston, Maine/Kents Hills) and Campobasso scored in a span of 4:19 to tie the game at 3-3.
Caiazzo, who had five first-half goals, scored twice, and Gadbois once, over the next seven minutes to again give the Monks a three-goal advantage. Lessard, Pelligrinelli and senior Shauna Robert (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic) found the net for the Huskies over the final 11 minutes to leave the game tied 6-6 at the break.
Elcock gave the Monks a 7-6 lead with her first goal in the opening minute of the second half. Junior Heather Everett (Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic) tied the game again for the Huskies at 25:40.
Junior Jackie Wilson (Tiverton, R.I.) put the Monks up again at 24:51 scoring off an assist from Gadbois. Campobasso scored four minutes later to set the stage for Gadbois.
