GORHAM, Maine – Hannah Schulze and Nicole Pelletier earned an 8-2 win at first doubles and the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs won all three doubles points en route to a 7-2 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Gorham High School Tennis Courts.
Extending its win streak to four matches, UMass Dartmouth improve to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Little East. USM falls to 7-4 overall and stands at 2-4 in the LEC.
Schulze and Pelletier defeated the Husky tandem of sophomore Jenna Willey (Windham, Maine/Windham) and sophomore Courtney Aldrich (Lewiston, Maine) to pace the Corsairs. Schulze also earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at second singles as UMD won four out of six singles points to secure the conference victory.
USM senior Mary Moran (Windham, Maine/Portland) defeated Pelletier 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 at the top singles spot to score one of the Huskies' two points in the match. Sophomore Molly Gallagher (South Portland, Maine/Deering) earned a 7-6, 7-6 win at third singles defeating Corsair Angela Pollard.
Southern Maine travels to Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.) for a non-conference match. UMass Dartmouth hosts Bridgewater State on Tuesday (3:00 p.m.) in LEC action.
