Southern Maine Downs Thomas 9-0

GORHAM, Maine –  Junior captain Emily Boutin (Old Town, Maine) won a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 battle at second singles to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 9-0 win over the Thomas College Terriers in a non-conference women's tennis match Thursday afternoon in Gorham, Maine.

With the win, Southern Maine improves to 6-2 overall and earns its second win over the Terriers this season.  The loss stops a two-match win streak for Thomas and drops its record to 2-4.

Boutin defeated Thomas sophomore Dalia Williams (Boston, Mass./Josiah Quincy Upper) in the closest point of the day.  Junior Mary Moran (Windham, Maine/Portland) continued her strong play at first singles with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Terrier sophomore Jessica Bowen (Lewiston, Maine).

Southern Maine hosts Salem State on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) in a Little East Conference match.  Thomas travels to nearby Colby on Wednesday (4:00 p.m.) for a non-conference tilt.
