GORHAM, Maine – The Colby-Sawyer College Chargers won all three doubles points and went on to defeat the University of Southern Maine Huskies 8-1 in a non-conference women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Costello Sports Complex in Gorham, Maine.
The win is the eighth straight for the Chargers who improve to 13-2. The loss drops Southern Maine's record to 6-5.
Husky junior Emily Boutin (Old Town, Maine) earned the lone point for USM defeating Charger freshman Charlotte Horton (South Hamilton, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham) 6-1, 6-7 (4), 10-4. Freshman Ashlyn Ramsay (Barkhamsted, Conn./Northwestern Regional) downed USM junior Mary Morin (Windham, Maine/Portland) in a hard-fought match 6-1, 7-5 to lead the Chargers.
Southern Maine returns to Little East Conference action on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) when it hosts Bridgewater State. Colby-Sawyer hosts Castleton State on Wednesday (Oct. 17) at 3:00 p.m.
