NEW LONDON, N.H.  – The Colby-Sawyer College Chargers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to earn a 5-3 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference women's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at Kelsey Courts in New London, N.H.

         Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-6 with its third straight win.  The Huskies fall to 5-5 suffering their second straight loss. 

         Sophomore Liz Lincoln (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior Claire Toffey (Barnstable, Mass.) finished the day undefeated for the Chargers.  Lincoln and Toffey combined for the Chargers' lone point in doubles action defeating the USM no. 1 tandem of sophomore Emily Boutin (Old Town, Maine) and junior Ali Hartley (Boothbay Harbor, Maine/Boothbay) 8-3 and then went on to win their singles matches.

         At first singles Lincoln defeated USM sophomore Mary Moran (Windham, Maine/Portland) 6-2, 6-2 and Toffey downed Boutin 6-1, 6-3 at second singles.  The Chargers won four out of the five singles matches played. 

         Hartley scored the Huskies lone point at singles defeating Charger Siobhan Masse (Southbridge, Mass.) 6-1, 6-2.  Moran and freshman Molly Morrill (Litchfield, Maine/Oak Hill) and sophomores Meaghan Robinson (Stonington, Maine/Deer Isle Stonington) and Monique Giroux (Troy, N.H./Monadnock Regional) each won their doubles events.

         Moran and Morrill defeated Masse and sophomore Kathleen Rogers (Falls Village, Conn./Housatonic Valley Regional) 8-4 at second doubles, while Robinson and Giroux downed sophomore Ari Marks (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) and freshman Ellen Graham (Newburyport, Mass.) 8-4.

         Southern Maine travels to Bridgewater State on Saturday (12:00 p.m.) for a Little East Conference match.   Colby-Sawyer travels to Lyndon State on Thursday (3:30 p.m.).
