BRUNSWICK, Maine – Emily Ferguson scored twice in a three-goal period for the No. 10 Bowdoin College Polar Bears to propel her team to a 4-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference field hockey game Tuesday night at Ryan Field.

Today's game marked the 54th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and the Bowdoin College Polar Bears. Bowdoin leads the overall series 43-6-5, and have won the last 23 games over the Huskies. Southern Maine last defeated Bowdoin on October 8, 2002 by the score of 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Southern Maine kept the Polar Bears off the scoreboard in the opening half of the game. Bowdoin had six shots over the first two periods and were awarded 18 penalty corners, but the Huskies' defense stood strong in the first 30.
- The Polar Bears broke through for three goals in the third quarter. Emily Ferguson scored twice for Bowdoin, while Hannah Balmelli had a goal. Ferguson recorded the first goal in the 34th minute, while Balmelli made it 2-0 in the 36th. Ferguson notched her second goal just 44 seconds after the restart to make it 3-0 before the quarter ended.
- Bowdoin tacked on a fourth goal in the 50th minute when Charlotte Crawford completed the assist from Clara Noyes.
