BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's golf team ended the first day of the Bowdoin Invitational in a tie for eighth place with a team score of 599 (+23) over 36 holes. Today's portion of the event included two rounds and the final round is scheduled for tomorrow pending weather and course conditions. Tufts University sits at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 588 (+12).
 
Junior Will Farschon (Brunswick, Maine) shot one-under-par 71 in the first round with four birdies. He then matched the score in the second round thanks to three more birdies. He is currently tied for second place with Trinity College's Charlie Mullin with a score of 142 (-2). New York University's Tanmay Chandra leads the field with a score of 139 (-5).
 
Freshman SJ Welch (Newport, Maine/Nokomis Regional) shot a 75 (+3) in the first round with a pair of birdies. His second-round score of 70 (-2) was the best on the team. Welch's second round featured six birdies He finished the day with a two-round score of 145 (+1) and sits in seventh place.
 
Senior Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) shot a 77 (+5) in the first round and a 78 (+6) in the second round. Dillon will enter tomorrow's round tied for 58th with a score of 155 (+11). Junior Jaden Poirier (White River Junction, Vt./Hartford) is tied for 67th with a score of 157 (+13). He shot a 77 (+5) in the first round and an 80 (+8) in round two. He had three birdies between his two rounds.  Junior Alex Grant (St. Albans, Maine/Nokomis Regional) shot a 77 (+5) and an 81 (+9) on the day with four total birdies. He is tied for 71st with a score of 156 (+14).
