How It Happened: Game One
  • With Coots sitting the Terriers in order in the first, including a pair of strikeouts, Southern Maine's Renner drove in the Huskies first two runs of the game with a two-run single up the middle as part of a three-hit bottom of the first.
  • After working around an error in the top of the second, Coots fired back with three straight outs and went on to retire eight consecutive Terriers into the top of the fourth.  During that time, the Huskies added another two runs in the bottom of the third.  Freshman Emily Wheeler (Old Town, Maine) started the rally with a one-out single to right before Renner earned her third RBI of the game with a double to left field for a 3-0 USM lead.  One batter later, sophomore Hannah Garcia (Dartmouth, Mass.) had an RBI single up the middle to score Renner giving the Huskies' a 4-0 advantage.
  • USM led 5-0 after the bottom of the fourth. Freshman Avery Moore (Dublin, NH) had a two-out single and senor Ella Bezanson (Amesbury, Mass.) scored an unearned run with strong base-running as the Terrier defense attempted to cut down a runner. The Huskies had two singles in the inning and used a pair of passed balls to their advantage.
  • Carrying a no-hitter into the fifth, Coots finally yielded a single as Bella Medieros singled to right.  Medieros advanced to third on a wild pitch, and a ground out, but Coots ended the threat snagging a pop up and keeping the shutout alive.
  • After a quiet bottom of the fifth from USM, Coots retired Thomas in order in the sixth, getting her fifth and sixth strikeouts of the game.  In the bottom of the sixth, USM made it a 6-0 game.  Sophomore Taylor Takatsu (West Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner Area) had a pinch-hit single in the inning to put sophomore Gwen Christie (Barnstead, NH/Prospect Mountain) in scoring position.  With one out and two on, senior Alana Delisle (Amesbury, Mass.) connected on an RBI single to left for the final run of the game.
  • Coots closed out the game in the seventh, ending the game with her eighth strikeout.

Game Two
  • With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Huskies scored five runs on five hits to take the lead for good 7-2.
  • Sophomore Ava Gerrish (Limerick, Maine/Massabesic) led off the inning with a walk, and Bezanson and Delisle each singled to load the bases for the Huskies.  With one out, Wheeler connected on a two-run single to right to give Southern Maine a 4-2 lead.  After another out, Renner connected on her second double of the day for another two runs and a 6-2 Husky lead.  Yebba made it 7-2 with a single to bring Renner home before the inning ended.
  • Thomas threatened for a run in the top of the fifth.  After Johnson got the first two outs of the inning on a ground out and a fly out, the Terriers' Megan Oberholzer drew a walk and Mackenzie Toner singled to put runners at first and second.  Maeve Hickok singled on the next play, but Oberholzer was cut down at home on a relay from USM right fielder Alana Delisle to Renner.
  • Husky senior Mackenzie Kingsbury (Woodsville, NH) entered the game in relief in the sixth for Johnson.  Making quick work, Kingsbury had a 1-2-3 inning on three pitches.  After a quiet sixth from USM, Kingsbury ended the game in the seventh with another three consecutive outs for the 7-2 final.
