Zach Smith (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union) recorded a team-high four points on a goal and three assists on Thursday afternoon as the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's lacrosse team took down the New England College Pilgrims 10-4 for their first win of the season. Juniors
Adam Coley (Valencia, Cail./Cheshire) and
Pat O'Driscoll (Biddeford, Maine) each logged three points as well. Coley's points came from a hat trick, while O'Driscoll had two goals and an assist.

Finn McCarthy (Durham, Maine/Freeport) and senior
Rhys Bridges (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) each scored twice for the Huskies and junior
Owen Gaulrapp (Windham, Maine) added an assist. Junior
Brycen Wolfahrt (Biddeford, Maine) earned the win with seven saves.

Series History:
Today's game was the 10 meeting between the two programs. The Pilgrims lead the series 7-3. Last season's game was the first between the two teams since 2015 and saw the Pilgrims win 11-10.

How It Happened:
- McCarthy scored the first goal of the game with 7:19 left in the first quarter after picking up a ground ball following a shot by Coley hit the post. The Pilgrims then tied the game with 3:17 on a Matt O'Rourke goal before O'Driscoll put the Huskies back on top 2-1 in with 34 seconds left in the quarter.
- The Huskies pushed the lead to 5-1 by outscoring the Pilgrims 3-0 in the second quarter behind a goal by Smith and two from Coley. Coley's second goal of the quarter came from a pass from Smith that found him with space to shoot in front of the net.
- Each team scored twice in the third quarter. McCarthy and Coley had the two Southern Maine goals with Gaulrapp assisting on McCarthy's. NEC's goals were scored by Andrew Pepka and McGonigle.
- Southern Maine scored a pair of up goals in the final quarter with O'Driscoll assisting on a score by Bridges before netting his own later in the quarter.
