LEWISTON, Maine – Fifth-year senior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) of the University of Southern Maine women's track & field program set new program records in the shot put and weight throw on Saturday at the Maine State Meet to win titles in each event. She also was chosen as the meet's Lynn Ruddy Women's Field Most Valuable Performer for the second consecutive season. Her shot put mark was 13.80m and her weight throw distance was 16.98m. Both marks rank in the top 10 nationally.
Southern Maine placed fourth out of eight teams with 92.66 points. The team also had second place finishes from junior
Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) in the 3000m, the 4x400 relay team of senior

Mya Austin (Sumner, Maine/Buckfield), senior

Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) in the pole vault and senior
Jaigan Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) in the shot put.
Track Event Highlights:
- Catalano ran a personal-best time of 10:45.38 to place second in the 3000 meters.
- The Huskies' 4x400 relay team placed second with a time of 4:08.89. a season-best for the Huskies.
- Senior Lucy Depolito (North Andover, Mass.) placed third in the 5000 meters with a personal-best time of 19:11.53. She now ranks eighth in program history.
- Burkhardt placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.23.
- Young placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 seconds in the finals. Her prelim time was 7.95 seconds.
- The 4x800 team of sophomore Meghan Przybilla (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village), senior Anabel Melanson (West Warren, Mass./Quaboag), senior Whitney Davenport (Westbrook, Maine) and senior AnnMarie Limberger (Vassalboro, Maine/Waterville) placed fourth with a time of 11:02.52.
- Sophomore Saya Breiting-Brown (Portland, Maine/Deering) had the fourth fastest time in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and reached the finals where she was disqualified.
- Hammith finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.99 seconds in the finals after running a 7.97 in the prelims.
- Freshman Florence Guimont (Boisbriand, Quebec/Laval Senior) placed fifth in the mile with a time of 5:38.53 to set a new personal-best.
- Karantza and Austin placed eighth and ninth in the 200 meters with times of 27.31 seconds and 27.35 seconds.
- Freshman Addy Thibodeau (Steep Falls, Maine/Bonny Eagle) placed ninth in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:17.46.
Field Event Highlights:
- Reitchel placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.15m.
- Boudreau (Dayton, Maine/Thornton Academy) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 12.59m.
- Freshman Emma O'Brien (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest) placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.00m
- Freshman Biel Deng (Lewiston, Maine) tied for fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.43m, a new personal-best.
- Freshman Nadia Sylla (Burlington, Vt.) placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 12.66m.
- Junior Wynter Simack (South Royalton, Vt./White River Valley) and freshman Sienna Geretz (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside) tied for eighth in the pole vault with marks of 2.12m.
- Senior Lizzie Asman (Marlborough, Mass./Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter) placed ninth in the weight throw with a personal-best distance of 12.57m.
- Freshman Ava Gerrity (Windham, Maine) placed 11th in the triple jump at 10.26m and 13th in the long jump at 4.83m. Her long jump mark is a personal-best.

The Huskies are off next weekend and will return to action on Saturday, February 21 when they travel to Plymouth State for the Little East Conference Championships.
