Late Power Play Goals Push No. 5 Norwich Past Southern Maine 3-1

GORHAM, Maine - The No. 5 Norwich University Cadets scored a pair of power play goals in the final four minutes of the third period to pick up a 3-1 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Friday evening in Little East Conference women's ice hockey action in Gorham's USM Ice Arena. Norwich's Alex Leslie scored twice for the Cadets. Graduate student Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) extended her scoring streak to five games with her 10th goal of the season.

Freshmen Charlotte Hughes (Mississauga, Ontario) and Gracelyn Koch (Maple Grove, New Brunswick) provided the assists on Chagnon's score. Freshman Megan Gawley (Calgary, Alberta) turned in a great performance in goal with a career-high 53 saves, a mark that is tied for the sixth-most in a game in team history.

Today's game also marked the 100th career game for senior Saige MacLeod (Dryden, Ontario). She is the fourth Husky to reach the milestone this season. Chagnon, fifth year senior Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Ontario Hockey Academy) and senior Audrey Donahue (Timberlea, Nova Scotia/Kimball Union Academy) each reached the milestone last month.
