GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine women's track & field team will be looking to win their sixth consecutive Little East Conference Indoor title on Saturday at the 2026 LEC Championships in Plymouth, N.H. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:00 am at Plymouth State's Bank of New Hampshire Field House at ALLWell North. Southern Maine has won 24 total LEC indoor conference titles.
Southern Maine fifth-year senior
Zoe Barnes (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester), sophomore
Khalysa Hammith (Windham, Maine) and senior
Alexis Karantza (Westbrook, Maine) each won event titles last season. Barnes placed first in the shot put with a throw of 12.54m, while Hammith set a new program record in the long jump with a mark of 5.79m. Karantza repeated as the conference champion in the 600 meters with a time of 1:39.80. The Huskies also placed first in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
Senior
Riley Reitchel (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy) and senior
Janiah Young (Perkinsville, Vt./Windsor) also have won individual conference titles in the past. Reitchel won the pole vault in 2024, and Young placed first in the 55-meter dash that same year. Young ranks second in the conference in the 200 meters this season with a time of 25.80 seconds and Reitchel is second in the pole vault at 3.36m.
Barnes, Karantza, sophomore
Isa Moustakas (Berlin, Vt./U-32) and freshman
Madi Sainis (Pierrefords, Quebec) all have the top mark or time in the conference this season. Barnes is the conference leader in the shot put (13.80m) and weight throw (16.98m), Karantza had the top 600 meter time (1:41.40), Moustakas has the best time in the 400 meters (58.60 seconds) and Sainis sits atop the conference leaderboard in both the 800 meters (2:19.54) and 1000 meters (3:12.24).
On the national level, Barnes, Boudreau and Hammith each hold top 50 marks in NCAA Division III this season. Barnes is tied for 12th in the shot put and ranks 16th in the weight throw. Boudreau's mark of 13.21m ranks 25th nationally and only trails Barnes among LEC competitors. Hammith's season-best jump of 5.61m is tied for 25th and ranks second in the conference.
Additional Huskies to watch in track events include sophomore
Saya Breiting-Brown (Portland, Maine/Deering) and junior
Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle). Breiting-Brown, a Third Team All-LEC performer in the 60-meter hurdles last season, enters the conference championship with the third-best time in the conference at 9.50 seconds. Catalano placed third in the 3000 meters last year and ranks fourth in both the 3000 meters and 5000 meters.
Freshman
Emma O'Brien (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest) also holds a top five conference mark in an event this season as she ranks third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.25m.
The Huskies are currently ranked fourth in the NCAA DIII East region in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings.
