How It Happened:
  • UMass Boston scored early with a Rhett Kodsi goal just under two minutes into the opening period. However, the Huskies were able to tie the game at 1-1 with just under five minutes left in the period when a shot by Donovan was blocked and found its way to Ilott who put it into the back of the net. Aucoin also assisted.
  • The Huskies took the lead in the final minute of the second period when Brennan found Donovan on a blueline to blueline pass that created an opportunity for Aucoin. Aucoin's initial shot was stopped by McDonough before the puck bounced in off a sliding Beacon defender.
  • Arend extended the lead to 3-1 when he took a pass from sophomore Ben Thornley-Hall (Coquitlam, British Columbia) and ripped a shot on goal that went up in the air before getting knocked into the net. The Beacons quickly cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal by Jakub Teply off his own rebound with 3:41 left to play.
  • After the Huskies just missed the empty net twice late in the game, Hagan was able to finally score an empty netter to make the lead 4-2 with one minute left. The Beacons pulled their goalie once again and scored with 13 seconds left but could not complete the comeback.

Inside The Stats:
  • The Beacons put 50 shots on goal to Southern Maine's 34.

  • Aucoin and Donovan now each have four multiple-point games on the season.
