WORCESTER, Mass. -  Senior Jake Craig (Norridgewock, Maine/Skowhegan) and junior Kyle Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue) each went 3-0 as the University of Southern Maine Huskies' wrestling team earned a pair of wins at the WPI Quad Meet Saturday afternoon.
 
The Huskies earned a hard-fought 25-19 win over WPI, and then took a dominant 42-8 win over New England College. Southern Maine fell in its opening match 40-10 to SUNY-Brockport.
 
In the opener, Craig and Moore accounted for all 10 of the Huskies' points.  Craig shutout SUNY-Brockport's Braidon Salter 16-0 (2:45) for a crushing win by technical fall at 133 lbs.  Moore followed with a technical fall of his own dominating Brockport's Alex Smith 16-1 (8:00) at 141 lbs.
 
After falling behind 6-0 to WPI following the 125 lb bout, Southern Maine rattled off five consecutive wins to surge ahead 22-6.  Freshman Logan Martins (Johnston, RI/Johnston Senior) got the Huskies started with a pin at 133 lbs downing WPI's Joel Puri in 2:31. Wrestling up at 141, Craig earned a major decision win, 9-0, over WPI's Mason Medina. Also wrestling up a class, Moore took down Mason Basara in 2:23 for a win by fall and a 16-6 Husky lead.  Wrestling at 157, sophomore Shane Moore (Kennebunk, Maine/Division Avenue) earned the first of his two wins on the day with a 4-2 win by decision over WPI's Lucas Marchese.  Sophomore Cesar Calderin (Hollywood, Fla./South Plantation) gave the Huskies their 22-6 lead with an outstanding 6-5 win by decision over Joey Baisley.  WPI claimed victories at 174, 184, and 197 to close the gap to 22-19, but sophomore Jason Canavan-Dwyer (Keene, NH) sealed the win for Southern Maine with an 11-4 win by decision at 285 over the Engineers' Trevor Bowen for the 25-19 final.
 
Against New England College, Southern Maine trailed 3-0 after the 125 bout, and then rattled off another five consecutive wins to lead 25-3, claiming victories at 133, 141, 149, 157, and 165. Craig earned a win by forfeit, while K. Moore took at 14-2 major decision win over Michael Follo.  S. Moore and Calderin went back-to-back with wins by fall at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively. S. Moore pinned Tanner Kamuda in 1:40, while Calderin worked a 4:06 pin against Joseph Gangi. Freshman Nate Wolyniec (Oxford, Conn.) made it 25-3 for the Huskies with a 15-3 major decision win over Dominic DeMaia.  New England College scored its final points with a tech fall at 174, before Southern Maine rolled up the match with wins at 184, 197 and 285.  Senior Troy Moscatelli (Brookline, NH/Hollis Brookline) earned a tech fall victory 16-1 (4:20) over Trevion Attalah, while Michael Sanchez pinned Brydon Sohn at 197 in 3:31.  Canavan-Dwyer ened the match with a 1:52 pin for the 42-8 final.
 
Notes:
With his 3-0 effort today, Jake Craig is 25-2 on the season. Kyle Moore is now 15-3 overall.
