BOSTON – The University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's ice hockey team overcame an early 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 tie with the UMass Boston Beacons on Friday afternoon in Little East Conference action. Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick/Ontario Hockey Academy) cut the lead in half with less than five minutes left in the first period. The Huskies then tied the game on a score by
Sydnee Chaisson (Stratford, Prince Edward Island/Mount Academy) in the second period.

Following a scoreless third period and five minutes of overtime action, the Beacons took the shootout on a goal by Mia Boyd before goaltender Leah Bosch denied the equalizer attempt by the Huskies. Huskies' junior
Maggie Jones (St. John's, Newfoundland/Mount Academy) made 24 saves.

How It Happened:
- Shea Nolan scored just under four minutes into the first period off the rebound of a shot by Grace Lynch that was saved by Jones to give the Beacons a 1-0 lead. Maggie Lynch then added another Beacons goal to extend the lead to 2-0 6:53 into the period by driving the puck into the net off the rebound of a shot by Grace Lynch.
- The Huskies got on the board with 4:24 left in the opening period when a backhander by Jackson found its way into the net after the rebound of Stewart's shot. Junior Shannon Murphy (Pembroke, Mass./Brewster Academy) recorded the secondary assist for her first point of the season.
- Chaisson tied the game at 2-2 4:02 in the second period after a pass from sophomore Makenzie Woodford (Cornwall, Prince Edward Island/Mount Academy) found her alone in front of the net with space to shoot. Senior Saige MacLeod (Dryden, Ontario) had an assist on the goal as well.
- The third period was scoreless with each goaltender making key saves down the stretch.
- Jones made seven saves in the overtime period while Bosch made three at the other end of the ice.
- Boyd scored the lone goal of the shootout on the third attempt for the Beacons. Bosch then saved an attempt by freshman Charlotte Hughes (Mississauga, Ontario) to end the contest.

- UMass Boston had a 26-22 lead in shots on goal.
- The Beacons led 29-19 in faceoff wins. Graduate student Madison Chagnon (St. Albans, Vt./Rice Memorial) led the Huskies with a 6-1 record on faceoffs.
- Neither team scored on the power play. UMass Boston killed off five penalties while the Huskies went 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
- The Beacons had a 13-9 lead in blocked shots. Freshman Gracelyn Koch (Maple Grove, New Brunswick) blocked three shots for the Huskies.
