Huskies Battle UMass Dartmouth to 1-1 Draw in Little East Action

Brady From Graver for Southern Maine Goal

GORHAM, Maine  - Junior Jack Brady (Jensen Beach, Fla./Jensen Beach) scored to the near post in the eighth minute as the University of Southern Maine Huskies drew even with the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs 1-1 in a Little East Conference men's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Brady's eighth minute goal was set up from an assist from sophomore Alex Graver (Freeport, Maine/Freeport).  The assist is Graver's second of the season. He has one goal and a pair of assists for the Huskes in four games.

The Records:
UMass Dartmouth (3-2-1, 0-0-1 LEC)
Southern Maine (0-1-3, 0-0-1 LEC)

Today is the 36th meeting between the University of Southern Maine and UMass Dartmouth.  The Corsairs lead the overall series 22-9-5.  Southern Maine and UMD battled to a 0-0 draw in 2022, and Southern Maine earned a 3-2 win in 2023.  In 2024, both teams were scoreless in a 0-0 draw.

How It Happened:
  • Pressing for a goal early, Southern Maine controlled possession in the opening 30 minutes of the game.  Brady scored his first goal of 2025 after an outstanding ball played in from Graver from the Huskies' back.
  • UMass Dartmouth pushed for an equalizer controlling play in the final five minutes of the opening half, but strong defensive play from Husky goalkeeper Gabe Wagner (Freeport, Maine) and the Southern Maine back line kept it 1-0.
  • UMass Dartmouth got the equalizer early in the second half as Derrick Camara cleaned up a loose ball in the box to push one past Wagner.
  • Both teams battled the final 40 minutes but neither could fine a go-ahead goal. USM senior Colin Albert (Gorham, Maine) had an outstanding chance in the 65th minute, but UMD goalkeeper Ethan Donahue got his finger tips on the ball and pushed it up over the cross bar for the save.

The Goalkeepers:
UMD, Ethan Donahue (3-2-1), 90:00, 1 GA, 5 Saves
SM, Gabe Wagner (0-1-3), 90:00, 1 GA, 2 Saves
